Signup Underway For April 17-19 District Camporee

Posted on Mar 23 2015 - 3:19pm

Signup for the April 17-19 Five Trails District Camporee is now underway. This event will be held at Camp Trevor Rees-Jones outside of Athens TX. The camporee is a district-wide event that will include Scout skill competitions between the troops. We’ve brought home trophies and ribbons in past years and we are going to need good representation in all the patrols to do so again.

The cost of the campout is $30 which covers food, transportation and a $15 district registration fee. The standard information and permission slip is attached.

We need to turn in our headcount to the district by the April 6th roundtable, so we need to get details on who is going within the next couple of weeks.

Summer Camp 2015 Registration Now Open!

Posted on Mar 9 2015 - 11:15am
Its time to start preparing for Summer Camp 2015!   This year Troop 841 is returning to Camp Lewis and Clark, located on the hills and bluffs overlooking the beautiful Missouri River.  Camp Lewis and Clark has an excellent camp program with everything you would expect and more: first class trail, nature and ecology, sailing, canoes, kayaking, climbing and rappelling, shooting sports, extensive merit badges options, iron man challenge, and others.  Camp Lewis and Clark is just west of Yankton, South Dakota, approximately 730 miles north of Coppell.

The dates of Summer Camp are June 20 - June 27.  We will depart St. Ann's around 5:30 pm June 20 (on a chartered bus) and arrive at Lewis and Clark for check-in on June 21. We will ride through the night stopping occasionally to switch drivers and re-fuel. Its a pretty exciting bus ride and we watch movies until around midnight.  For the return trip, we will board the bus after the closing ceremony on Friday evening (the 26th), drive through the night and stop for breakfast the next morning.  We also plan to stop at the Oklahoma City National Memorial before arriving back at the church around 2:00 pm on the 27th.

We are signed up for a camp site that holds 40 people total: 35 boys and 5 adults. Total Cost for the boys is $380 plus cost of Merit Badge Classes, if necessary. The payment schedule is as follows.
  •     First Payment of $200 and MB Selections is due by March 30th and payment is needed to reserve a spot
  •     Remaining Balance is due April 30th
  •     No refunds for cancellations will be honored after April 6th as we have to make our final payment to the camp by then.
  •     The cost for adults is $187.00, and payment is due by April 30.

Attached you will find additional information to review. This includes the 2015 merit badge options/schedule, session details, and a merit badge selection form.  Please start reviewing this material now and start making your merit badge selections.  The trail to first class program is recommended for first-year scouts.
